2004 - One Night Live! One Last Time!

This was the year of Barry's final tour. That's what he told us. He was done with touring.

What an emotional year! I couldn't believe that I had finally reached a point in my life where I was able to travel to see Barry, but now it was all coming to an end.

There were some unfortunate events. I managed to get stranded without post-show transportation at both the Philadelphia and Phoenix shows. That was, uhm...terrifying. If you compare those two instances with being stuck in the PNC flood and having to figure out how to get back to New York City, I think Philadelphia and Phoenix were more frightening. At least at the PNC flood, I was with other people. In Philly and Phoenix, I was standing alone on the streets. Not fun....

Barry had to reschedule the last few shows of the tour because of illness. However, that allowed the Dallas show to be moved to the last spot on the schedule. If it was going to be the end, at least it was going to be in my hometown (or as close as Barry will ever come to performing in my hometown).

That Dallas show was the night that I met Barry for the first time. It was a magical night. I was scared and excited at the same time. Barry made it so wonderful for me. That's been almost 10 years ago, but I still feel just as much excitement when I think back on the moments I spent with Barry that night.

The platinum gathering at the Dallas show is also where we first heard a rumor about Barry doing a residency in Las Vegas...
